A friend, poet, and community activist.
About Me.
Nice to meet you! I'm Ella.

I have had two passions in my life from when I was a young child-- student leadership and a sense of wanting to help people. Perhaps they are one in the same, but these two aspects of my life have come naturally and easily to me. I started off my political career when I was in the 5th grade and became Student Body President in elementary school. I ran on the platform of "being great together" and establishing a friendship bench for students who had a hard time making friends. My brother has autism and I understood how hard it can be to make friends at school. For me, making friends came effortlessly. For him, not so much. Perhaps growing up around his autism made me keenly aware of social anxieties and how they can make life so difficult.

In high school I have been elected to the Student Community Leaders all 4 years and in this role I have made it my purpose to bring awareness to, as well as de-stigmatizing, mental health issues. I started off small and have grown into an advocate. I worked on the US Congressional Campaign of Evan Low, an openly gay Asian American, and learned how to take advocacy to the next level. As an openly transgender female, I understand how important my voice is to bringing freedom to trans youth. I understand that my one voice can be powerful.
My hope is that one day, through kindness and compassion, we can all live in a world with respect and tolerance for our differences, but lead with our similarities.

Honored to receive my school district's most prestigious award.
